THE HIGH LINE PERMIT INFORMATION
TURNAROUND TIME: Due to the high volume of requests we receive, please allow 3–5 business days for their team to respond to a submitted request. Allow for at least 2 weeks advance to permit.
The High Line is able to accommodate small-scale shoots (see guidelines below) as long as they do not negatively impact visitor flow or park operations. Large-scale shoots may be accommodated on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out to us to learn more about bringing a large-scale shoot to the High Line.
Small shoot guidelines
Shoots cannot inhibit the High Line’s normal activity in any way. This means that crews cannot block the paths, enter the plant beds, or exert any exclusive use of the space.
Shoots must fall within the High Line’s operating hours. Hours vary seasonally.
Restricting the mobility or behavior of members of the public is prohibited. Anyone who engages in aggressive or demanding actions toward the public will be immediately required to leave the park.
Requiring members of the public passing around your shoot to sign release forms is prohibited.
For safety reasons, shoots may not take place on the staircases (or within 12’ of staircases) or in elevators (or within 12’ of elevators).
Due to space limitations, the park’s operations schedule, and high levels of visitation at the High Line, you must scale down the size of your crew as much as possible to avoid inadvertently blocking the path and creating a public safety hazard. (No more than 10 people, including on-camera talent and crew.)
The High Line can only accommodate small film & photo shoots with minimal equipment. Any equipment or props (with the exception of one tripod) must be handheld. Equipment and props may not be placed in the High Line’s delicate plant beds or rested against railings or signs.
Equipment carts, dollies, light stands, make-up bags, sound boxes, catering tables, and other stationary equipment are otherwise not permitted on the High Line during film & photo shoots.
A comprehensive equipment list must be provided in advance of the shoot.
Drones are not permitted on the High Line and in all other New York City parks.
