Commercial photography and all film shoots, whether commercial or non-commercial, must secure permits in advance. Our staff is ready to work with you to help you find the perfect place for your engagement photos, fashion brand, or film studios.

Commercial & Non-Commercial Film/Photoshoot Requirements & Guidelines

Anyone wishing to film or photograph commercially in Hudson River Park must obtain a permit. Permits are also required for non-commercial purposes when film or photography disrupts Park users or restricts the use of a public area, including but not limited to use of a tripod or other non-handheld equipment.

Permit applications must be submitted at least 21 business days in advance of the desired shoot date. All permit applications require a non-refundable $25 fee, Certificate of Insurance (COI), and permit fee. Permit fees are assessed based on the nature, location and length of the shoot. An additional COVID-19 Plan of Action and will also be required in order to film or photograph in the Park.

Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be granted a permit. Additionally, issuances of film and photography permits do not grant the Permittee exclusive use to any area. All permit holders must abide by the terms of the permit and the Park’s Rules and Regulations. In all circumstances, permittees must remove all trash from the area.
